Description:
The objectives of the meeting were:

  • To identify similarities, differences and gaps between environmental enforcement (Recommendation 2001/331/EC) and Green Enforcement.
  • To present four European cases of green enforcement similar to regulatory cycle used by environmental enforcement: CITES in the Netherlands — Structured Enforcement; Protecting predators in Finland; Forestry in Eastern Europe; and Ecological Corridors and Spatial Planning, a European Perspective. In addition, a presentation was given on the experience of the IMPEL Network: “How It Should Work: Doing the Right Thing II".
  • To find a basis for developing voluntary guidelines on green enforcement, focusing on Natura 2000.
