Description: The Enforcement Action Project II (2008-2011) is the fourth project under the umbrella of IMPEL/TFS, aiming to further promote and improve inspections and enforcement of waste shipments through and out of the European Union including verification of the waste destination and treatment by means of a cooperative approach (joint actions) in order to stepwise harmonize the level of enforcement, knowledge and interpretation within the participating Member States.

The conference gave the possibility to reflect and review the current project. Its main aims were to share the experiences made in the first project period, to discuss on the TOR and to debate on major priorities and best steps for improved implementation and enforcement of the EU Waste Shipment Regulation in the remaining project period.

In particular, the conference focus was on:

  • Number of inspection activities in participating countries
  • Type of inspection activities (transport and company)
  • Practical co-operation between Member States
  • Networking between national responsible officials
  • Verification
  • Knowledge transfer (exchange program)
  • Coordination with international
